Amarantos was born in the district of Jurunas, outskirts of Belém, state of Pará. She began singing at the age of 15, in the Parish of St. Therese of Lisieux. Coming from a family of samba dancers, during her adolescence she also heard singers of the Flashbrega movement (Pará's brega style of the 1970s), MPB and jazz (especially Ella Fitzgerald and Billy Holiday).[2]
Since 2000, she began to be recognized as one of the emerging stars of Pará's "tecnomelody".[2] From 2002 on, at the head of the Banda Tecno Show, Amarantos has recorded two CDs and one DVD.
